From a hardware wholesaler with two employees to a global market leader with 88,000 employees: This impressive development is the life’s work of Professor Reinhold Würth, Honorary Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Würth Group. On 20 April 2025, he celebrated his 90th birthday. Family and friends, numerous guests from the worlds of politics, business and the arts as well as the company management congratulated Professor Reinhold Würth during a ceremony at Carmen Würth Forum in the German town of Künzelsau.The Würth Group is also celebrating its 80th anniversary, a milestone in the company's impressive history.

An active life
After more than 20 years in the industry, Adolf Würth founded his own wholesaling business for screws, nuts, and bolts in Künzelsau on 16 July. Even today, Adolf Würth GmbH & Co. KG is still the largest individual company of the globally operating Würth Group.
Reinhold Würth officially joined the company on 1 October 1949 as the second employee and first apprentice.
Adolf Würth died unexpectedly of heart failure. Initially supported by his mother Alma, 19-year-old Reinhold Würth took over the management of the two-man business, which at the time generated annual sales of EUR 80,000.
Prof. Reinhold Würth married Carmen Linhardt. Three children, five grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren are the family’s greatest treasure today. Carmen Würth is his staunchest supporter: The couple is going through the 69th year of their marriage.
Prof. Reinhold Würth ventured abroad and founded the first company in the Netherlands. By doing so, he set the course for international growth at an early stage. That same year, he opened additional companies in Austria and Switzerland.
With the acquisition of the painting Cloud Reflection in the Marsh by Emil Nolde, Prof. Reinhold Würth laid the foundations for the Würth Collection. Today, the Würth Collection houses more than 20,000 works of art spanning approximately 500 years of art history.
Prof. Reinhold and Carmen Würth established the charitable Würth Foundation, which promotes projects in the fields of education and science, social affairs and integration, art and culture. Its activities focus on the Heilbronn-Franconia region.
The new administration building with integrated Würth Museum was inaugurated in Gaisbach. It was the starting point for five company-owned museums and ten associated galleries aimed at making art accessible to everyone free of charge.
Reinhold Würth was appointed Professor for Entrepreneurship at the University of Karlsruhe (TH). He was also awarded an honorary doctorate from the Faculty of Economics of Eberhard Karls University in Tübingen.
Kunsthalle Würth in Schwäbisch Hall was opened in the presence of prominent guests from the worlds of politics, society, and culture. To date, more than five million people have visited the over 50 exhibitions. The extension is planned to open in 2026.
Prof. Reinhold Würth was awarded the Commander’s Cross of the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany by then State Premier of Baden-Württemberg, Erwin Teufel.
Prof. Reinhold Würth passed the chair of the Advisory Board of the Würth Group to his daughter Bettina. He himself became Honorary Chairman of the Board.
The inauguration of the culture and convention center Carmen Würth Forum in Künzelsau-Gaisbach was celebrated with a great ceremony on 18 July, the birthday of its namesake. It was designed by British architect David Chipperfield.
The Reinhold Würth Innovation Center Curio® at the company headquarters in Künzelsau-Gaisbach is a new home for the development of new products and systems at Würth, where product developers, scientists, and students work together.
On 1 October, Prof. Reinhold Würth celebrated his 75th work anniversary. Chancellor Olaf Scholz congratulated Prof. Würth on this special occasion and paid tribute to his life’s work in his speech.
Generational change: Benjamin Würth took the chair of the Supervisory Board of the Würth Group. Sebastian Würth became Chairman of the Advisory Board. Maria Würth took over responsibility for the Arts unit as Executive Vice President.
