The Australian National Team Will Come to Hohenlohe

Öhringen-Friedrichsruhe, 19th January 2006
Joint Press Release of the Town of Öhringen and the Würth Group

Öhringen-Friedrichsruhe. The national team of the Football Federation Australia is going to take up quarters at Wald- und Schlosshotel Friedrichsruhe for the qualifying round of FIFA Soccer World Cup 2006. Otto-Meister stadium in Öhringen will be the training grounds for the team gathered around their coach Guus Hiddink. This announcement was made by the Football Federation Australia on January 19th 2006.

Jochen K. Kübler, Member of the Landtag and mayor of the town of Öhringen is very pleased and remarked: “ We are very happy about the fact that the efforts of Wald- und Schlosshotel Friedrichsruhe and Adolf Würth GmbH & Co. KG were crowned by success and that we can offer optimal training conditions to the Australian team that meet the standards of FIFA with the premises in and around Otto-Meister stadium.

The five-star hotel belonging to the Würth Group and the district town of Öhringen were able to put together a joint and very consistent offer package that outdid numerous other applications of other locations. If necessary, even the Group-owned, fully equipped airport Schwäbisch Hall, which is only 20 km away, can be used to optimize travelling.

Managing director Heinz Schiebenes and hotel manager Lothar Eiermann are both of the opinion: „To be one of the thirty-two World Cup accommodations is certainly a great honor for our business”. The renovation of the castle will be finished by the time the team arrives. According to the motto “Warmth and security in style” the hotel can – even more so than before - be a true haven for the Australian "Socceros". First-class service and the stunning location in the midst of a beautiful park with lovely old trees provide optimal conditions. The hotel offers the soccer stars the necessary luxury as well as top premises for massage and physiotherapy. It goes without saying that the Australians can also enjoy Lothar Eiermann's highly awarded cuisine.

Further important advantages apart from the accommodation is the short distance to the training grounds in line with FIFA requirements in Öhringen and the central location of the region of Hohenlohe regarding the venues where the Australian team is going to play. These are the aspects that led to the decision to choose “Öhringen-Friedrichsruhe” as World Cup accommodations. In the qualifying round, the Australian national team will play soccer matches in Kaiserslautern, Munich and Stuttgart.

So, the region of Hohenlohe is not only right in the middle of events around the FIFA World Cup 2006 from a geographical point of view, but also as official World Cup accommodations.
The town of Öhringen, Wald- und Schlosshotel Friedrichsruhe and the Würth-Group will keep their fingers crossed for the Australian team's place in the last sixteen.
