10,000 Euro for Herzogin-Anna-Amalia Library
Künzelsau. On the evening of 2 September 2004, the Herzogin-Anna-Amalia Library in Weimar was ravaged by a disastrous fire. The historic main building of the Herzogin-Anna-Amalia Library as well as large shares of the approximately 140,000 volumes stored in it have been damaged or destroyed.
Probably 50,000 volumes have been destroyed by the fire. The immense costs for the restoration of the volumes, who have gravely been damaged by the fire and by water mainly have to be covered by private donations. Therefore, the Foundation declared immediately after the fire that it would support the restoration of damaged books with a donation of 10,000 euro. At a small reception at the Würth headquarters in Künzelsau on Thursday, 27 January 2005, Prof. Reinhold Würth handed the donation to the director of the library Dr. Michael Knoche
