Business Year 2004: Würth Group Generates New Sales Record

Künzelsau/Hohenlohe Region. In the financial year 2004, the Würth Group attained new record sales. The worldwide leading trading company for fasteners and assembly material based in Künzelsau (Hohenlohe Region) increased its sales, in accordance with the provisional financial statement, by 13.7 percent to the new record of EUR 6.2 billion. Adjusted for exchange rates and acquired companies the organic growth amounted to ten percent. The sales development in Germany was also very positive in 2004: The growth rate of the Würth Group in Germany equalled 14.6 percent and sales rose to EUR 2.52 billion. Outside Germany, the sales volume increased by 13.1 percent to EUR 3.68 billion.
Compared to the previous year, the operating result improved and grew disproportionately to the sales. According to provisional calculations, the result for the financial year 2004 will be between EUR 380 and 400 million (previous year: EUR 330 million).
At the end of the year 2004, the Würth Group had 46,973 people on its payroll worldwide. So the number of employees rose by 5,021 (twelve percent) compared to the preceding year. The number of sales representatives went up by 11.1 percent to 26,085 worldwide. The number of in-house staff increased by 13.1 percent to a total of 20,888.
The company is going to publish the definite annual statement of the Würth Group for the financial year 2004 at its annual press conference taking place in Künzelsau on Thursday, 12th May 2005.
Adolf Würth GmbH & Co. KG is celebrating its 60th company anniversary. Founded in 1945 by Adolf Würth in Künzelsau (Hohenlohe Region), the small screw business was turned into a globally operating trading company by his son Prof. Reinhold Würth. On 20th April, 2005 Prof. Würth, Chairman of the Advisory Board of the Würth Group, is also celebrating his 70th birthday.
