38 MBA students graduate from University of Louisville
Künzelsau. On Friday, 14 November 2008, 38 students of University of Louisville celebrated their successful degree ‘Master of Business Administration (MBA) - Global Business’ with a graduation ceremony at Alma Würth Hall of the Würth company in Künzelsau. Over a period of one year the participants had completed the international program in Germany and the US alongside their job.
The MBA program is carried out by the renowned University of Louisville (Kentucky, USA) in cooperation with Akademie Würth and the Hamburg Fern-Hochschule (long-distance university of applied sciences). It is already the sixth year of graduates who finish their MBA studies successfully.
Prof. Dr. h. c. mult. Reinhold Würth, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Würth Group’s Family Trusts, Gerhard Sturm, Chairman of the Advisory Board of ebm-papst Mulfingen GmbH & Co. KG and promoter of the MBA study program, as well as Prof. Dr. R. Charles Moyer, Dean of the College of Business of the University of Louisville/USA, congratulated the students on successfully taking their degree. (Please find a list of the graduates enclosed.)
“We are particularly proud of the students in this program”, said Prof. Dr. R. Charles Moyer in his greeting. “You have reached a high level and proved that you can work hard and are thus well-prepared for your professional career.”
“One of the essential key factors for the successful further development of every company is well-qualified staff”, said Prof. Dr. Harald Unkelbach (Member of the Central Managing Board of the Würth Group) in his welcoming words. The “War for Talents”, the recruitment of qualified personnel, represented a huge challenge for the future development of companies. “We are sure that we get excellent employees with the MBA graduates”, Mr. Unkelbach added.
“Don’t feel stopped by complexity and bureaucratic hurdles. Be active, take challenges, stand up again after defeats and attain your targets”, was the advice Prof. Dr. Michael Bosch, President of Hamburg Fern-Hochschule, gave the students to take along.
The MBA program
Companies operating at international level need highly qualified employees with internationally recognized degrees, experience abroad and excellent English language skills. The 13-month studies leading up to the Master of Business Administration (MBA) - Global Business, which are not only available to Würth Group employees, but to all academics with professional experience of at least two to three years after their first degree, offer an ideal platform for that. The university degree awarded by the University of Louisville in collaboration with Akademie Würth is fully accredited by the American Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) and also by the Foundation for International Business Administration Accreditation (FIBAA).
The very practically-oriented lectures and exercises are held exclusively in English in order to ensure that the future executives can communicate confidently with English-speaking business partners throughout the world. The students complete almost half of the study period in the US. The two four-week periods abroad allow intensive intercultural experiences. In addition to that, living and learning together in the US promotes the formation of networks within the group of students and strengthens the language skills. For the study period in Germany, the participants can choose between a block course model featuring three two-week segments and a weekend model at the locations of Bad Mergentheim and Schwäbisch Hall.
The students complete the tasks in the lectures jointly; as the courses are attended by students from the most diverse backgrounds - natural sciences, economics and humanities -, the students are confronted with the most diverse methodologies and approaches. The participants in the MBA program are taught by particularly experienced, practice-oriented professors from the United States and Germany as well as practitioners from business, such as the entrepreneur Prof. Dr. h. c. Reinhold Würth and Prof. Dr. Harald Unkelbach, Member of the Central Managing Board of the Würth Group. Prof. Dr. Bodo Wilmes, the MBA program’s academic director, holds the foundation professorship at the Reinhold-Würth-Hochschule (Reinhold Würth College) which was made available by Gerhard Sturm, CEO of ebm-papst Mulfingen GmbH & Co. KG.
