Successful completion of studies for 20 MBA graduates - MBA program receives FIBAA accreditation - Reinhold Würth awarded with honorary doctorate of the University of Louisville
Künzelsau. 20 students of the University of Louisville have successfully completed their further qualification of Master of Business Administration (MBA) - Global Business while working full-time. They received their certificates on Friday, 9 November 2007, in the framework of a graduation ceremony as held at American universities in Alma Würth Hall in the Würth Group’s Künzelsau headquarters.
Gerhard Sturm, CEO of ebm-papst Mulfingen GmbH & Co. KG and promoter of the MBA study program, Prof. Dr. R. Charles Moyer, Dean of the College of Business of the University of Louisville, as well as Prof. Dr. James R. Ramsey, President of the University of Louisville, congratulated the students on their successful graduation.
The MBA program is carried out by the University of Louisville (Kentucky, USA), one of the universities with the longest tradition in the United States, in collaboration with Würth Academy and the Hamburg Fern-Hochschule (long-distance university of applied sciences). This year’s graduates were already the fifth class of students completing their international further education to graduate as Masters of Business Administration.
The participants did not only come from Germany, but also Denmark, Spain, Switzerland and Turkey. “The MBA program’s international focus - both in terms of the participants and the contents conveyed - promotes competence and the ability to act in a working world which is becoming increasingly more networked,” said Prof. Dr. Harald Unkelbach, Member of the Würth Group’s Central Managing Board, in his speech at the graduation.
Success has proved the pioneer concept right: On the occasion of the graduation ceremony, Daisuke Motoki, head of the accreditation process at the Foundation for International Business Administration Accreditation (FIBAA), handed over the certificate confirming the MBA program’s FIBAA accreditation to Prof. Dr. Harald Unkelbach and Prof. Dr. Charles Moyer. This internationally recognized accreditation corroborates the high quality of the much sought-after university degree. 38 students are participating in the current course.
Prof. Dr. James R. Ramsey, President of the University of Louisville, recognized the outstanding commitment to international collaboration in the context of the MBA program demonstrated by Prof. Dr. h. c. Reinhold Würth, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Würth Group’s Family Trusts: He awarded the honorary doctorate of the University of Louisville to the Künzelsau entrepreneur, presenting him with the University’s Medal of Honor.
“Throughout your life and professional career, you have demonstrated an exemplary commitment to business, public service, and cultural enrichment,” the appointment certificate reads. “As a highly successful entrepreneur and business leader, you honored the University of Louisville by selecting it to educate your employees and colleagues in the Würth Group,” the text continued.
Prof. Dr. h. c. Reinhold Würth himself is active as a lecturer in the MBA program, thereby sharing his wealth of experience as an entrepreneur with his students.
The MBA program
Companies operating on the international level need highly qualified employees with internationally recognized degrees and experience abroad. The 13-month studies leading up to the Master of Business Administration (MBA) - Global Business, which are not only available to Würth Group employees, but to all academics with professional experience of at least two to three years after their first degree, offer an ideal platform for that. The university degree awarded by the University of Louisville in collaboration with Würth Academy is fully accredited by the American Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) and, since November 2007, also by the Foundation for International Business Administration Accreditation.
The very practically-oriented lectures and exercises are held exclusively in English in order to ensure that the future executives can communicate confidently with English-speaking business partners throughout the world. The students complete almost half of the study period in the U.S., providing an additional boost to linguistic competence. For the study period in Germany, the participants can choose between a block course model featuring three two-week segments and a weekend model at the locations of Bad Mergentheim and Schwäbisch Hall.
The students complete the tasks in the lectures jointly; as the courses are attended by students from the most diverse backgrounds - natural sciences, economics and humanities -, the students are confronted with the most diverse methodologies and approaches. The participants in the MBA program are taught by particularly experienced, practice-oriented professors from the United States and Germany as well as practitioners from business, such as entrepreneur Prof. Dr. h. c. Reinhold Würth and Prof. Dr. Harald Unkelbach, Member of the Central Managing Board of the Würth Group. Prof. Dr. Bodo Wilmes, the MBA program’s academic director, holds the foundation professorship at the Reinhold-Würth-Hochschule (Reinhold Würth University) which was made available by Gerhard Sturm, CEO of ebm-papst Mulfingen GmbH & Co. KG.
