“Management culture at schools and in the economy – Developing competence – Promoting quality” - Start of application period for the 2nd Management Symposium of the Competence Center Economic Education

Künzelsau/Rust. The Competence Center Economic Education under the roof of the Charitable Würth Trust will be hosting the 2nd Management Symposium at the Conference Hotel “Colosseo” in Europa Park Rust on Friday 14th and Saturday 15th November 2008. Managers from schools of the administrative county of Freiburg as well as individual in leading positions at enterprises in Southern Baden are invited to register for participation.

Aim of the two-day symposium under the motto ”Management culture at schools and in the economy - Developing competence – Promoting quality” is to foster the active dialogue between schools and the economy by working on common issues and establishing personal contacts. In addition to new insights to be gained, the participants are to better understand their counterparts’ field of action by learning more about it.

The symposium will be opened with a lecture by Jürgen Mack, managing associate of Mack KG, on Friday afternoon. Jürgen Mack is going to talk about “Management culture using the example of Europa Park Rust”. Peter Fratton, President of the Administrative Board of SBW – Häuser des Lernens – Holding AG and teacher, will continue with his speech “Lead me not into Temptation. Fractal leadership in the business of school – an example.” Within the framework of moderated talk rounds – a so-called “World Café” - the contents of the speeches will be discussed and deepened in the course of the afternoon.

On the second symposium day, the participants will work in six parallel workshops on various topics such as the “Basics and guidelines on human resources development“, “Leading by learning“ as well as „Customer and service orientation at schools and in economy“. Every working group is moderated by a tandem from school and economy. Afterwards, the results will be presented to the other participants in the plenary session.

The final of the symposium on Saturday evening is also very promising: Prof. Dr. Sabine Boerner from the chair of management, leadership and strategy at the University Konstanz will lecture on “Leadership in an orchestra: Art without Artistic License?”

Participation in the conference will cost EUR 85. The fee contains the conference documents as well as the catering on the two symposium days. The Competence Center Economic Education Baden-Württemberg is an initiative by the Charitable Würth Trust and was called into being by the entrepreneur Professor Dr. h. c. mult. Reinhold Würth in 2005. Main aim of the competence center is to bring schools closer to economic topics. There is a close cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Cultural Affairs, Youth and Sports of Baden-Württemberg.
