The Business Year 2006 of the Würth Group: Double-Digit Growth
- Sales volume generated by the Würth Group increases by 12.0 per cent to the new record level of 7.74 billion EUR
- Operating result shows increase above proportion compared to sales
- Number of employees has jumped up to more than 54,900
- Creation of 1,000 new jobs in Germany
Künzelsau/Hohenlohe Region. In the business year 2006 the Würth Group continued its double-digit growth: The worldwide leading trading company for fasteners and assembly material based in Künzelsau (Hohenlohe Region) increased its sales volume, in accordance with the provisional financial statement, by 12.0 percent to the new record of 7.74 billion EUR.
The sales development in Germany was also highly positive in 2006: The growth rate of the Würth Group in Germany equalled 12.3 percent, and sales increased to 3.12 billion EUR. Abroad, sales increased by 11.8 percent to 4.62 billion EUR.
Compared to the previous year, the operating result improved greatly and grew above average compared to sales by roughly 16.5 per cent. According to provisional calculations the result for the financial year 2006 will range between 530 and 540 million EUR (previous year: 455 million EUR) and has therefore reached record level.
In the business year 2006, the Würth Group not only expanded in the field of sales, but also regarding the number of staff. At the end of the year 2006, the Würth Group had 54,906 people on its worldwide payroll. Compared to the previous year, the number of employees increased by 4,139 (8.2 percent). The number of sales representatives went up by 5.6 percent to 29,020 worldwide. The number of in-house staff increased by 11.2 percent to a total of 25,886. In Germany alone, the Würth Group succeeded in creating more than 1,000 new jobs so that the number of employees working in the Federal Republic of Germany increased by 7.2 per cent to 15,298.
By opening up a new direct selling company in Mongolia, the Würth Group once again intensified the global thrust of its business activities in 2006. The Group is now represented in 83 countries with 370 companies (previous year: 351 companies).
The Würth Group will publish the final and audited annual statement for the financial year 2006 at its annual press conference on Wednesday, May 9, 2007.
