Executive Symposium of Competence Center Economic Education addresses requirements for successful schools
Künzelsau/Waldenburg. On 16 and 17 November 2012, the Competence Center Economic Education of the Würth Foundation held its sixth executives symposium. Specialists and executives from different schools discussed the topic "Strategies for a successful school" at Freie Schule Anne-Sophie and Panoramahotel Waldenburg.
During the presentations, workshops and in personal talks, the teachers and headmasters dealt with the question of how schools and everyday school life could be organized in a more successful way and what measures helped schools react to changes in school policies and society to tap into potentials and prepare themselves for the future.
"Headmasters are key to the further pedagogic development of and quality assurance at schools. They are the driving force making sure necessary changes are put into practice. Above all, modern school management is the art of motivating the teaching staff as well as of developing and purposefully using the talents of the individual teachers", Dr. Frank Mentrup, Member of the Landtag and undersecretary at the Ministry of Education and Cultural Affairs, Youth and Sports of Baden-Württemberg, said.
Prof. Dr. h. c. mult. Reinhold Würth, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Würth Group’s Family Trusts, supported this statement in his welcome speech and emphasized the significance of leadership culture: "A delight in teaching and learning is especially important. It must be passed on from the headmasters to the teachers and then conveyed to the students, thus forming their character."
The teachers exchanged their experiences in dealing with students and discussed methods of learning, modern values and life plans of today's youth. In his presentation "What goes on in a youth's mind?", Dr. Marc Calmbach of market research company Sinus Markt- und Sozialforschung GmbH delved deeper into these topics and presented the results of a survey among young people. Physician and coach Dr. Jörg-Peter Schröder gave valuable tips on how to deal with stressful situations in a healthy way. The event was rounded off by several workshops.
