University of Pécs awards Reinhold Würth with honorary doctorate
Künzelsau/Pécs. The Hungarian University of Pécs bestowed Prof. Dr. h. c. mult. Reinhold Würth, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Würth Group's Family Trusts, with the university's honorary doctorate on 8 November. The distinction was presented during a ceremony at the university in Pécs.
Prof. Dr. h. c. mult. Reinhold Würth received the honorary title on the initiative of the Faculty of Law and Political Science. The Reinhold and Carmen Würth Foundation has been supporting the students at this faculty for almost twenty years. The Foundation especially supports socially disadvantaged students showing good academic achievements with scholarships. By bestowing the honorary doctorate the University of Pécs appreciates these many years of successful cooperation.
The Würth Group started business operations in Hungary in the year 1988. Today, Würth Szereléstechnika Kft. is market leader in Hungary. In 1991, the company created and registered the Reinhold and Carmen Würth Foundation in Hungary. The Foundation supports teaching at universities and colleges, education in the fields of conservation and environmental protection, children and youths living in orphanages as well as people living in homes for the elderly. Since 1992, the Foundation has been supporting Óbuda University, since 1993 the Hungarian University of Fine Arts and since 1994 also the Faculty of Law of the University of Pécs. About 250 students have been granted scholarships by Würth since the creation of the Foundation.
