Würth Group decides to build congress and exhibition center
Künzelsau. During its meeting on 27 April 2012, the Advisory Board of the Würth Group dealt with the topic "Construction of a congress and exhibition center in Künzelsau-Gaisbach". The body passed the unanimous resolution to push the planning process for the project, aiming to obtain the final construction plans as well as the official building permit by the end of 2012 at the latest. It was furthermore decided to officially start construction works in spring 2013, provided business activity and the global economy continued to develop normally until spring 2013. The completion of the center is planned for April 2015.
The construction of the congress and exhibition center will provide the capacities needed for management meetings, congresses, symposiums and trade shows. In addition to accommodating company events, the new building will be used to exhibit highlights of the Würth Collection by artists such as Pablo Picasso or Max Ernst, which are not on permanent display due to a lack of exhibition space. The center will also be a venue for cultural events and can be rented by third parties for specific purposes. Thus, it will not only be a meeting place for Würth Group employees, but also a place of regional cultural and sports events.
The congress and exhibition center will have a total floor space of approximately 5,000 square meters, divided into exhibition space of 1,200 square meters, an arena of 2,700 square meters to be used for events, a chamber music hall (440 seats) and a conference area of 600 square meters each. The place in front of the museum and event arena will also serve as an area for open-air concerts and is part of the generous grounds of 30,000 square meters. The congress center will have 2,000 seats. The amount to be invested comes to EUR 55 million.
