History of sports sponsoring
1976
The first activities in sports sponsoring were put into practice in 1976 in motor sports. We supported our own team, the BMW Junior Team, with the drivers Winkelhock, Surer and Giacomelli.

1982
The 80s were also defined by the motor sports commitment. Sponsoring was expanded to Formula 1 and Formula 2.

1983
Rallyes were very popular at that time and were also included in sponsoring.

1987
In 1987 and 1988, Würth was title sponsor of the Würth Supercup, a racing series for Group C sports cars.

1987
In 1987, a second sport was added: fencing. Until 2017, the international Reinhold Würth World Cup was held annually in the fencing stronghold Tauberbischofsheim.

1991
Through the advancing internationalization and the growing divisionalization of the company, the focus of touchline advertising was shifted to soccer beginning in 1991.

1999
From 1999 to 2004, we have been represented with touchline advertising at the world championships in ice hockey – a type of sport that is very popular especially in many countries of Northern and Eastern Europe.

2000
In 2000, the touring car series “Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters” (DTM) was relaunched. We partnered with the teams until the year 2014.

2001
The Spanish professional cycling team ONCE (later Liberty Seguros) was sponsored starting from 2001, mostly to increase brand popularity in the markets in southern and western Europe. After instances of doping surfaced in mid-2006, the commitment was terminated without delay.

2002
In 2002, we ventured into winter sports, another highly interesting area of sponsoring. After ski jumping, the partnership was also extended to the Nordic disciplines and biathlon.

2008
The commitment in winter sports was completed by the disciplines Alpine Ski and Ski Cross. Since then, we have been partner of all German national ski teams and have been extending the successful cooperation with the German Ski Association (DSV) further.

2011
On the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the international Reinhold Würth Fencing World Cup in Tauberbischofsheim, the first foil fencing competition for women takes place.

2012
In the USA, we have been supporting the Penske Racing Team in the famous NASCAR Nationwide and Sprint Cup series since 2012. This is an important project for us, laying the foundations for establishing Würth as a leading assembly technology brand on the American market.

2012
To further push the internationalization of our sports sponsorship activities, we supported Team China Basketball as official sponsor from 2012 to 2015.

2013
From 2013 until 2019, Würth was an official supplier to the APRC (Asia Pacific Rally Championship). A large range of Würth products, along with technical advice was available at every APRC event.

2017
Within the framework of the official kitting out of the German Ski Association (DSV) in the Carmen Würth Forum, the sponsorship of the DSV was extended until 2022, continuing the successful partnership also in the future.
