31 MBA students graduate from the University of Louisville
Künzelsau. During a graduation ceremony in the Alma-Würth-Auditorium of the Würth company in Künzelsau on Friday, November 13, 2009, 31 students of the University of Louisville received their certificates of Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Global Business. The students had completed the international program stretching a period of 13 months in both Germany and the United States of America while working full-time in their respective jobs. They were already the 7th intake that had successfully completed the program.

The international WorldSkills Competition took place from 1 to 7 September 2009. In Calgary/Canada over 900 craftsmen under the age of 22 from 48 nations – for the most part trainees still – tested themselves against demanding international standards.

For the first time, the Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Würth Group's Family Trusts, Prof. Reinhold Würth, visited the Würth Company in Kyrgyzstan together with a delegation. At the end of the trip, donations were given to the children’s home “Ümüt-Nadjeschda“, an institution for handicapped children in Bischkek, the capital of Kyrgyzstan.

Within the framework of the ceremony on the occasion of the annual Dies Universitatis, Eberhard Karls University of Tübingen honored the Künzelsau entrepreneur Prof. Dr. h. c. mult. The Würth Education Award was presented for the third time by Kompetenzzentrum Ökonomische Bildung (Competence Center Economic Education) under the umbrella of the Non-Profit Würth Foundation on Thursday, October 22, 2009. This year, Haierschule Faurndau (Göppingen) and Christliche Schule im Hegau (Rielasingen-Worblingen) are the two winners of the first prize endowed with 4,000 Euro and awarded in the Neues Schloss in Stuttgart.

German Logistics Award for the Würth Group - Award at the 26th German Logistics Convention
Berlin. The Würth Group is the bearer of the German Logistics Award 2009 awarded by the Federal Association for Logistics (Bundesvereinigung Logistik, BVL). The jury rewarded the company for their “Modular logistics: The solution for multi-channel sales” project. Würth Group extends Central Managing Board as of 1 January 2010
  • Michel Kern, Jürg Michel and Wolfgang Rampmaier will be appointed new members of the Central Managing Board of the Würth Group.
  • Prof. Harald Unkelbach is going to withdraw from the Central Managing Board at his own request. As Managing Director of Adolf Würth GmbH & Co. KG and Member of the Charitable Würth Trust, he will take care of and further develop the Würth Group’s varied social commitment in the region of Heilbronn-Franconia.
Künzelsau/Rorschach. With effect from 1 January 2010, the Supervisory Board of the Würth Group’s Family Trusts and the Advisory Board of the Würth Group appointed Michel Kern (50), Jürg Michel (57) and Wolfgang Rampmaier (56) members of the Central Managing Board of the Würth Group. They are going to reinforce the supreme decision-making body of the Würth Group. Further members of the body are Robert Friedmann as Chairman, Joachim Kaltmaier, Dr. Reiner Specht and Peter Zürn.

On everyone’s lips with all-you-eat buffet: Panorama Catering in Künzelsau celebrates its tenth anniversary
Künzelsau. What had started with the foundation of an independent catering company for the employees of Adolf Würth GmbH & Co. KG on 1 July 1999 has meanwhile turned into a company organization of 16 company restaurants, one school canteen, one public restaurant and about 250 small and large events per year. On 1 July 2009, Panorama Hotel und Service GmbH Panorama Catering in Künzelsau, a subsidiary of the Würth Group, celebrates its tenth anniversary. The company is on everyone’s lips - also because it offers an all-you-can-eat buffet at all company restaurants as well as home-made hamburgers at the canteen of Freie Schule Anne-Sophie in Künzelsau on this occasion.

On Monday, 29 June 2009, the Würth Prize of Jeunesses Musicales Deutschland (JMD), which includes prize money of EUR 20,000, was awarded to the Arab-Jewish Youth Orchestra in Berlin. Playful irritations: Polish sculptor Monika Sosnowska receives the eighth Robert Jacobsen Prize
Künzelsau/Berlin. The eighth Robert Jacobsen Prize, endowed with a prize money of EUR 15,000, was awarded to Polish sculptor Monika Sosnowska (*1972) at the Würth Haus Berlin on Schwanenwerder island on 25 June 2009. 24 paper models of the artist's installations constituted the ceremony’s visual backdrop. Professor Dr. Armin Zweite, the director of Museum Brandhorst in Munich, gave the eulogy.

Invitation to apply for the Würth Education Award for the school year 2009/2010 – Award for future-oriented economics school projects
Künzelsau. For the fourth time, the Competence Center Economic Education of the Charitable Würth Trust is inviting secondary schools providing a general education in Baden-Württemberg to submit applications for this year’s Würth Education Award. By 31 July, the schools may hand in future-oriented economics projects. The best projects are awarded prize money of EUR 12,000 in total.

Künzelsau. “The Würth Group would never have come into being without my mother’s typical northern German straightforwardness and resolute way and my father’s loving guidance,” is how Reinhold Würth, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Würth Group’s Family Trusts, characterized his parents. The 100th birthday of Adolf Würth was therefore a good occasion for the company to remember the company founder together with invited guests on 7 February 2009.

Preliminary annual financial statement 2008: Würth Group with another sales record
  • Annual sales grew by 3.9 percent to EUR 8.8 billion - adjusted for exchange rates, the growth amounts to 5.1 percent
  • Operating result of EUR 520 million expected
  • 240 new jobs in Germany
  • Changes on the top management level
Künzelsau. According to the preliminary annual financial statement, the Würth Group increased its sales volume 2008 to EUR 8.8 billion. In an economic environment which was difficult especially in the second half of the year, the Group did not meet its ambitious growth targets stipulated at the beginning of the year, yet nevertheless succeeded in generating a sales growth of 3.9 percent over the previous year, amounting to 5.1 percent adjusted for exchange rate fluctuations.
