38 MBA students graduate from University of Louisville

On Friday, 14 November 2008, 38 students of University of Louisville celebrated their successful degree ‘Master of Business Administration (MBA) - Global Business’ with a graduation ceremony at Alma Würth Hall of the Würth company in Künzelsau. Over a period of one year the participants had completed the international program in Germany and the US alongside their job.

Freie Schule Anne-Sophie opens its doors for interested teachers: Information evening and tour of the campus on 18 November 2008
Künzelsau. In September 2008, Freie Schule Anne-Sophie moved to the new premises at the school campus in Künzelsau-Taläcker. For the coming school year 2009/2010 the private school intends to employ additional teachers from all types of schools in the course of the school’s further expansion.

Würth Education Prize 2008: Future-oriented school projects from Baden-Württemberg honored - First prize goes to Golden-Bühl-Schule from VS-Villingen
Künzelsau/Stuttgart. On 22 October 2008, the Competence Center Economic Education under the roof of the Charitable Würth Trust presented the Würth Education Prize for the second time. The ceremony was celebrated at New Palace in Stuttgart. This year, the first prize that comes with prize money of EUR 4,000 was presented to Golden-Bühl-Schule from Villingen. With their project of a catering service within the framework of a pupils’ company, the 18 pupils of grades seven and eight of the school could convince the jury.

Freie Schule Anne-Sophie school occupies new buildings Inauguration celebrated with ceremonial hand-over of keys
Künzelsau-Taläcker. The new buildings of Freie Schule Anne-Sophie, located on the Taläcker residential estate in Künzelsau, opened their doors punctually on September 8, 2008 at the beginning of the new school year 2008/2009. 350 pupils took their seats in the new classroom buildings after a construction phase lasting just 14 months. The official inauguration ceremony, including the symbolic handing over of the keys, took place on Friday, September 19.

Würth expands corporate premises in Künzelsau Adolf Würth GmbH & Co. KG enlarges administrative building in Künzelsau by 2010: Room for an extra 300 additional office workplaces / Würth International AG expanding in Rorschach (Lake Constance)
Künzelsau/Rorschach. The parent company of the German Würth Group, Adolf Würth GmbH & Co. KG, will be expanding its administrative building at the corporate seat in Künzelsau from spring 2009 onwards. The enlargement will make room for another 300 office workplaces, with 100 to be occupied by existing employees and 200 by new employees. At present, approximately 2,000 employees work at the company’s seat in Künzelsau.

Würth intensifies international soccer sponsoring

After the qualifying round for the EURO 2008, the European soccer championship, the Würth Group will now also accompany the qualifying round of the 53 European national teams and the Chinese team for the FIFA World Cup 2010. New Offer of Akademie Würth: PhD study course while working also for graduates of Berufskakademie (university of cooperative education) and Fachhochschule (university of applied sciences)

Würth Group: Business development in the 1st half of 2008
  • Sales increase by 6.6 percent to EUR 4.56 billion
  • Operating result of EUR 316 million before tax
  • Number of employees increased by 7.6 percent to a total of 65,158
  • German group grows stronger than international group
Künzelsau/Hohenlohe. The Würth Group increased its total sales by 6.6 percent to EUR 4.56 billion in the first half of 2008. Adjusted for currency effects, sales growth amounted to 8.2 percent. “We are contented with the development of business in the first half of the year. Despite a strong base effect compared to the same period under review of 2007 as well as the current world economic situation and increasing prices for raw materials we continue growing” says Robert Friedmann, Chairman of the Central Managing Board of the Würth Group.

Palantine Chapel shines again - Würth sponsoring helped to restore the European cultural asset
Künzelsau/Palermo. On Monday, 7 July 2008, a ceremony was held to celebrate the completion of the renovation works at the Palatine Chapel in the Norman Palace in Palermo, capital of the region of Sicily. Würth Italy and the Charitable Würth Trust had supported this project with approx. EUR 2.5 million over five years. On Friday, 11 July 2008, the chapel will be opened to the interested public.

100 Würth volunteers at the Special Olympics National Games in Karlsruhe - “The joy and the laughter in people’s eyes say more than a thousand words”
Künzelsau/Karlsruhe. On 20 June 2008, the 6th National Summer Games for people with intellectual disabilities are drawing to a close in Karlsruhe. The games, offering an occasion for encounters and common joy in athletic performances, had commenced at the beginning of the week. Over 10,000 participants made their way to the Karlsruhe Europahalle and to the surrounding sports sites where competitions in a total of 17 Olympic disciplines took place.

Würth employees as volunteers at the Special Olympics National Games 2008
Künzelsau/Karlsruhe. This year, the biggest sports event for people with intellectual disability in Germany - the National Games 2008 of Special Olympics Germany - will take place in Karlsruhe from 16 to 20 June. About 100 employees from the Würth Group are going to work as volunteers to support the event. With this, the company will send the second largest team of volunteers to Karlsruhe.

National Games of Special Olympics Germany - Olympic torch stops at Würth in Künzelsau - Around 100 volunteers of Würth on duty
Künzelsau. The Olympic torch of Special Olympics Germany arrived at Künzelsau on Thursday, 12 June 2008, where it stopped at the headquarters of the Würth Group. In the run-up to Germany's biggest sports event for people with intellectual disability, the National Games 2008, the flame is on tour through Germany. The summer games with over 10,000 registered participants will take place in Karlsruhe from 16 to 20 June. The motto of the games is “Special Olympics – It moves!”

Günther H. Oettinger, Minister President of the federal state of Baden-Württemberg, has assumed patronage of the Würth Education Award. The deadline for applications is 31 July 2008.

Combining theory and practice - future teachers are to explore businesses
Stuttgart. Initiated by the Competence Center Economic Education Baden-Württemberg, representatives of the Ministry of Sciences, Research and the Arts as well as of the Ministry of Education, Cultural Affairs, Youth and Sports of Baden-Württemberg met with delegates from various teacher training colleges in the federal state at the Ministry of Sciences in Stuttgart on 30 May 2008. The Competence Center Economic Education, which operates under the roof of Würth's Charitable Trust, has had positive experiences with business explorations within the framework of its BusinessPracticeProgram (WirtschaftsPraxisProgramm, WiPP). They have encouraged it to push for the compulsory incorporation of an internship in business into the curriculum of students hoping to be business and economics teachers. Thus, the trainee teachers are to gain insights into business processes already during their studies.

Investigation of Tax Offenses Terminated
Künzelsau. At the end of the preliminary investigation by the public prosecutor Stuttgart at the local court in Heilbronn in connection with tax affairs the persons concerned of the Würth Group have accepted the orders of summary punishment or the discontinuation of the proceedings subject to conditions respectively. With this, the corresponding procedure is closed. Background is the preliminary investigation concerning six managers of the company which was instituted by the public prosecutor Stuttgart in 2006.

  • Würth Group increases sales by 9.5 percent to EUR 8.5 billion - growth rate adjusted for currency influences stands at 10.5 percent
  • Operating result grows at above-average pace compared to sales
  • Number of employees rises to over 63,600; in Germany alone, the Würth Group added 1,000 employees to its payroll compared to the previous year
Künzelsau/Hohenlohe.In all major key ratios, the Würth Group recorded a highly successful business year 2007. The worldwide leading trading company for fasteners and assembly material based in Künzelsau (Hohenlohe region) increased its sales, in accordance with the provisional financial statement, by 9.5 percent to the new record level of EUR 8.5 billion. Adjusted for currency effects, the Group was even able to increase its sales volume by 10.5 percent.
