4. Business Development after First Four Months
- Würth again achieves two-digit growth rates: Sales increase by 11.4 %

Künzelsau/Hohenlohekreis. Würth again achieves two-digit growth rates: In the first four months of the business year 2005 the Würth Group has increased sales by 11.4 % to 2.24 billion euro compared to the same period last year. “We further dynamically grow” Dr. Walter Jaeger, Spokesman of the Würth Group, comments on the sales results of the trading company in the first four months of the business year 2005.
Abroad sales increased by 10.4 % to 1.34 billion euro. The German Group improved sales by 13 % to 896 million Euro. By the end of the year 2005 the Würth Group wants to increase sales by 10 % to 6.8 billion euro.
As regards the development of the operating result, profit of the Würth Group amounts to 151 million euro after the first months in 2005, which corresponds to an increase of 1.3 % compared to the same period last year. These are the figures the company published last Thursday, 12th May 2005 within the framework of the Group’s annual financial statements of the business year 2004.
Also in 2005 the Würth Group wants to further extend their sales team and employ more sales reps. As of 30th April 2005 Würth employed 2,396 more sales reps and 1,921 internal staff than last year and employs all in all 49.132 people (+9.6 percent), 26.930 of whom work in the sales force (+ 9.8 percent).
As of 1st January 2005 the Würth Group has taken over the bar choke expert iBE in Thyrnau near Passau. Induktive Bauelemente GmbH is technology and process leader in the field of noise suppression chokes for the automotive industry and is integrated in the Würth Elektronik Group. iBE employs 630 people in three production works in Thyrnau, Budweis (Czech Republic) and Plovdiv (Bulgaria) and achieved 20 million euro sales in 2004.
The acquisition of this company with extraordinary know-how and strong production orientation is an ideal addition for the mainly sales-oriented Würth Elektronik Group and is a first step towards strategically opening up the automotive market.
In the field of passive construction components Würth Elektronik has mainly concentrated on general industrial applications so far. In addition Würth Elektronik is known as manufacturer of printed circuit boards and electronic components. In 2004 the Group employed around 1,200 people and generated sales of 182 million euro.
