Messages through the centuries: Christian Tetzlaff has been awarded with the Würth Prize of Jeunesses Musicales Germany 2017

On Monday, the 23rd October 2017, the exceptional violinist Christian Tetzlaff has been awarded with the Würth Prize of Jeunesses Musicales Germany (JMD), which is worth 15.000 €. He was awarded both for his extraordinary interpretations, "which always resemble (new) discoveries of works performed by him," as it is called in the welcome text, as well as for his commitment to opening up access to classical music, especially to young people.

The award was presented by Prof. Dr. h. c. mult. Reinhold Würth, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Würth Group’s Family Trusts and JMD-President Johannes Freyer.

To hear Christian Tetzlaff's performance is "a great experience", emphasized Reinhold Würth at the award ceremony at the CARMEN WÜRTH FORUM in Künzelsau. Freyer acknowledged Tetzlaff's merits for the future of classical music. "Especially for young people, it is a fascination and a personal experience when century-old music - played at this moment – captivates them.” With his commitment to such an intimate, communicative art, Tetzlaff was right at the Jeunesses Musicales Germany.

The Würth Prize of Jeunesses Musicales Germany has been one of the exclusive awards in the German music scene since 1991. It is awarded to artists, ensembles, or projects, which implement the values and goals of the JMD exemplary. Personalities such as the conductor Gustavo Dudamel or the percussionist Martin Grubinger and ensembles such as the german Bundesjugendorchester or projects such as the Education Program of the Berlin Philharmonic received it.
