Künzelsau/Berlin. The Baden-Württemberg company Adolf Würth GmbH & Co. KG sponsored this year’s summer party of Federal President Horst Köhler at the President’s residence Schloss Bellevue in Berlin on Friday, 6 July 2007.
In 2007, the celebration, which was attended by 4,000 invited guests – among them German citizens who excel by their outstanding social commitment as well as representatives of the fields politics, economy and associations, media, science, sports and culture – had as a motto "Commitment – With and For Each Other". Living together in solidarity and showing respect for each other was picked out as the central theme of the celebration which paid tribute to the commitment of private persons and companies regarding these topics.
According to this motto, Künzelsau-based Hotel-Restaurant Anne-Sophie, which forms part of the Würth Group, introduced itself at the event at a stand in the tent of sponsors in the park of Schloss Bellevue. Employees presented the hotel’s special concept: integrated cooperation of handicapped and non-handicapped people in the hotel and catering trade. The guests of the summer party furthermore had the chance to get an impression of the nationwide unique project by watching a film on Hotel-Restaurant Anne-Sophie or by talking to the employees. Yvonne Schmidt from the hotel management explained the hotel’s philosophy: “Showing respect for each other when working together and feeling that one’s performance is appreciated – that is what the people in our hotel have in common”. “We are very glad to be given the opportunity to present our hotel at this wonderful event”, said Carmen Würth, initiator of Hotel-Restaurant Anne-Sophie and Managing Director of Anne-Sophie GmbH.
When having a round before the summer party, Federal President Horst Köhler also visited the stand of the hotel and was quite taken with the project which had been awarded the title “Selected Place 2007” of the “Land of ideas” initiative.
Hotel-Restaurant Anne-Sophie, situated in the Baden-Württemberg town of Künzelsau, belongs to the Würth Group and employs 19 handicapped and 27 non-handicapped persons who work hand in hand. The nationwide unique project started operation in 2003 with the aim to promote the personality development of handicapped people and to support their social integration through a useful employment.
The building in the old part of Künzelsau houses a hotel, a restaurant with café as well as a seminar area. The handicapped colleagues are trained by staff members who are both gastronomically and pedagogically qualified in order to teach them how to work on their own in the fields of kitchen work, service and room service. They are furthermore given the opportunity to gain further qualifications.
Soon the integrated pioneer model turned out to be very successful: After only three years, Hotel-Restaurant Anne-Sophie was able to expand its business and opened a new annex in November 2006 – “Würzburger Bau" is only a few minutes’ walk away from the parent hotel. Both buildings together have a total number of 29 rooms which meet the demands on the superior category. The warm atmosphere of the hotel is rounded off by the hotel’s library with aquarium, the fireplace in the event room as well as the winter garden with its wonderful view.
