Competence Center Economic Education promotes dialog between schools and business at the fourth Management Symposium

Künzelsau/Sinsheim. The Charitable Würth Trust’s Competence Center Economic Education hosted its fourth Management Symposium on 16 and 17 April 2010 at the Hotel Sinsheim in Sinsheim. 83 executives from schools and business intensively focused on the issue of "Marketing for services and education.

It was the goal of the two-day symposium to facilitate active dialog between schools and the economy by having representatives of both sides work together on common issues as well as by promoting the establishment of contacts. Participants included principals from the Karlsruhe government district as well as human resources managers and executives from companies in the same region. In lectures and workshops, both sides gained deeper insights into the respective other field, taking home ideas for their own work.

“Personal exchange between executives from schools and businesses will promote a better understanding for the respective needs and requirements, contributing to constructive cooperation on the local and regional levels,” said Thomas Schenk from the Ministry of Education and Cultural Affairs, Youth and Sports, who also chairs the Advisory Board of the Competence Center Economic Education.

Prof. Dr. h. c. mult. Reinhold Würth, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Würth Group’s Family Trusts, who initiated the Competence Center Economic Education Baden-Württemberg, spoke of his career as an entrepreneur and explained why school and business acting in concert is of crucial significance.

“Economic education in schools should be promoted, and adolescents’ affinity for economic issues should be fostered,” said Prof. Dr. h. c. mult. Reinhold Würth in his address.

Afterwards, Prof. Dr. Lothar Weinland, Course Director for Service Marketing at the Dual University of Mannheim, gave a lecture on the latest insights from service research. He addressed the fascinating matter of how schools could function as service providers.

A “World Café” in the format of a moderated panel round and six workshops deepened selected issues relating to marketing.

In conclusion, Martin Knauerhase from FACTS, an advertising agency and management consultancy, built the bridge “From Product Marketing to Education Marketing”, speaking in detail about the concept and implementation of Bavaria’s training offensive.

The campaign aims to point out training opportunities in metal and electrical industry to secondary school students studying for vocational qualifications.

Competence Center Economic Education

The Competence Center Economic Education Baden-Württemberg is an initiative by the Charitable Würth Trust and was called into being by the entrepreneur Prof. Dr. h. c. mult. Reinhold Würth in 2005. The main aim of the competence center is bringing schools closer to economic topics. There is a close cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Cultural Affairs, Youth and Sports of Baden-Württemberg.
