Künzelsau. “The Würth Group would never have come into being without my mother’s typical northern German straightforwardness and resolute way and my father’s loving guidance,” is how Reinhold Würth, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Würth Group’s Family Trusts, characterized his parents. The 100th birthday of Adolf Würth was therefore a good occasion for the company to remember the company founder together with invited guests on 7 February 2009.

His father Friedrich Würth, afarmer growing wine, runs an inn in Ilsfeld and administers the local payingoffice of Württembergische Landessparkasse.
The young man’s personality ismolded by his origins. “My father had a friendly relationship with hiscolleagues and liked to get together with them to celebrate over a glass ofgood wine, which was no wonder because my father had a little wine tavernand a winery in Ilsfeld,” Reinhold Würth recalls about his father.
In 1922 - at the age of just 13 - Adolf Würth joins then screw trading business Reisser as an apprentice, where he goes on to makea successful career. He quickly becomes a specialist in his field, is givenpower of attorney and starts to go on business trips to Germany, Austria and Switzerland. In 1942, he is drafted and given the commercial responsibility for a company in then occupied France: the Alsatian branch of the Zinser company in Hagenau. It was above all Adolf Würth’s wife, Alma, who supports his step to selfemployment after the end of the war. “After the Second World War my mother was the driving force that pushed my father towards selfemployment",said Reinhold Würth.
