Würth Group extends Central Managing Board as of 1 January 2010

  • Michel Kern, Jürg Michel and Wolfgang Rampmaier will be appointed new members of the Central Managing Board of the Würth Group.
  • Prof. Harald Unkelbach is going to withdraw from the Central Managing Board at his own request. As Managing Director of Adolf Würth GmbH & Co. KG and Member of the Charitable Würth Trust, he will take care of and further develop the Würth Group’s varied social commitment in the region of Heilbronn-Franconia.

Künzelsau/Rorschach. With effect from 1 January 2010, the Supervisory Board of the Würth Group’s Family Trusts and the Advisory Board of the Würth Group appointed Michel Kern (50), Jürg Michel (57) and Wolfgang Rampmaier (56) members of the Central Managing Board of the Würth Group. They are going to reinforce the supreme decision-making body of the Würth Group. Further members of the body are Robert Friedmann as Chairman, Joachim Kaltmaier, Dr. Reiner Specht and Peter Zürn.

After his commercial apprenticeship, Michel Kern (50) joined Würth AG Switzerland in 1980 and made his way passing several stations in the in-house sales department before he was appointed Head of Marketing and Sales in 1985. In 1993, he was appointed Managing Director of today’s Würth International AG in Chur. Since 2001, Michel Kern has been Executive Vice President of the Würth Group. In this function he is, among others, responsible for the central purchasing of the International Group. Mr. Kern is married and has two children.

Jürg Michel (57) joined the Würth Group in 1991 and has been Managing Director of the Würth Finance Group since 1993. Since 2001, he has been Executive Vice President in charge of Finance. Mr. Michel is married and has two children.

Wolfgang Rampmaier (56) started his career at Stuttgart-based Hahn + Kolb GmbH & Co. KG, a subsidiary of the Würth Group. After assuming various functions in the field of sales he was appointed Managing Director in 1995. In 1998, he changed to Adolf Würth GmbH & Co. KG where he has been in charge of the Division Industry International. He has been Executive Vice Pesident of the Würth Group since the year 2000 and Deputy Member of the Central Managing Board since 2008. Mr. Rampmaier is married and has two children.

The Central Managing Board is the supreme decision-making body of the Würth Group. Its most important tasks include strategic planning, the selection of executive personnel, and the operational management of strategic business units and functional areas.

As of 1 January 2010, the Central Managing Board of the Würth Group is going to consist of

  • Robert Friedmann, Chairman of the Central Managing Board
  • Peter Zürn, Deputy Chairman of the Central Managing Board
  • Joachim Kaltmaier
  • Michel Kern
  • Jürg Michel
  • Wolfgang Rampmaier
  • Dr. Reiner Specht

Prof. Harald Unkelbach is going to withdraw from the Central Managing Board at his own request. As Managing Director of Adolf Würth GmbH & Co. KG and Member of the Charitable Würth Trust, he will take care of and further develop the Würth Group’s varied social commitment in the region of Heilbronn-Franconia.
