Würth Education Award: Teachers exchange experiences - Apply now for the Würth Education Award 2012

Künzelsau. On Thursday, 20 January 2011, the Competence Center Economic Education under the roof of the Charitable Würth Trust welcomed 11 teachers at Freie Schule Anne-Sophie. Pedagogues participating in the Würth Education Award in the current school year exchanged their views and ideas with those colleagues who had won the prize with their students in 2010.

Main items on the agenda were the reports by the three winners as well as a discussion round. “For the current participants in the Education Award, this is a very good way of obtaining useful tips and suggestions for their school projects firsthand”, says Stefanie Wilhelm from the Competence Center Economic Education. During a tour of Freie Schule Anne-Sophie, which was independently led by the learning partner Aaron Schmidt, the teachers were given an insight into the school system on the spot.

“I saw a highly interesting and architecturally beautiful school. In addition to that, I will take home many ideas for our project”, says Douglas Zöller, teacher at Integrierte Gesamtschule Mannheim-Herzogenried.

Würth Education Award: Apply now!

The Würth Education Award is going into a new round: Interested schools can apply with their projects for the Würth Education Award 2012 at the Competence Center Economic Education by 31 July 2011.

Every year, the Competence Center Economic Education invites bids for the Würth Education Award, honoring future-oriented school projects on business and the economy. The entrepreneur Prof. Dr. h. c. mult. Reinhold Würth initiated the award and gave a clear impulse by establishing the Competence Center Economic Education in 2005 to emphasize that more knowledge of business ought to be conveyed in schools. Within this framework, the Competence Center closely cooperates with the Ministry for Education, Youth and Sports in Baden-Württemberg. Stefan Mappus, Premier of the Federal State of Baden-Württemberg, acts as patron of the Würth Education Award.

All secondary schools in Baden-Württemberg without specialization can apply for the Würth Education Award. Unlike many other awards, the rewarded projects are not something that was completed and carried out in the past, but innovative project plans to be implemented in the following school year by the respective schools. The primary aim of the projects is to strengthen entrepreneurial and economic thinking and acting at schools.

In a first step, six schools are selected from among the applicants which will be given professional advice and financial support for the implementation of their projects. After one year, the Competence Center Economic Education will present the Würth Education Award, including another EUR 12,000 in prize money, to the best projects.
