WABCO and Würth Group Establish Joint Company to Service Commercial Vehicles in Europe through Innovative Technology Diagnostic System

WABCO is a global technology leader and tier-one supplier to the commercial vehicle industry. For more than 30 years, WABCO has brought to market the majority of technology breakthroughs in safety and control systems for trucks, buses and trailers. WABCO’s pioneering engineering also includes electronic system development for integrating braking, suspension and advanced driver assistance systems.

Würth Group is the world’s market leader for assembly and connecting materials and employs a direct sales force comprising 28,000 representatives. Through its automotive division, Würth Group is also an industry leader as a high quality supplier and award-winning distributor of automotive products and equipment to professional workshops in 84 countries worldwide.

As manufacturers continue to increasingly equip their different brands of commercial vehicles with onboard electronic components and systems, WABCOWÜRTH Workshop Services will introduce a highly innovative multi-brand technology diagnostic system. Unlike other such systems that can be used for multiple brands of vehicles, WABCOWÜRTH Workshop Services will offer a solution that fully integrates the industry-leading competence and software diagnostics of WABCO.

Operating through its selected distributors, WABCOWÜRTH Workshop Services will supply commercial vehicle workshops, fleet owners and operators and end users internationally.

WABCOWÜRTH Workshop Services plans the European launch of its multi-brand technology diagnostic system in April 2010. As they maintain and repair electronics on trucks, buses and trailers, aftermarket customers can more efficiently and effectively satisfy their technology diagnostic needs for many brands of vehicles by using the only multi-brand tool that integrates WABCO’s industry-leading competence and software diagnostics.

Claus Hell and Frank Bartsch have been named Managing Directors of WABCOWÜRTH Workshop Services, which is 50 percent owned by WABCO and 50 percent owned by Würth. Prior to joining the new company, Mr Hell headed aftermarket diagnostic services at WABCO and Mr Bartsch headed sales at Würth’s commercial vehicle division in Germany.

“Würth is a global champion in their field with a passion for inspiring customers and achieving entrepreneurial success in the aftermarket. Würth contributes outstanding competence in multi-brand diagnostic development, superb skills in system integration and award-winning distribution knowhow,” said Jacques Esculier, WABCO Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. “WABCOWÜRTH Workshop Services powerfully combines technical, sales and field capabilities.”

“WABCO is a global technology powerhouse and strongly anchored strategic partner for system development with the commercial vehicle industry’s major original equipment manufacturers. As the industry’s innovation leader, WABCO contributes superb competence in system development and engineered software diagnostics,” said Peter Zürn, Deputy Chairman of the Würth Central Managing Board. “WABCOWÜRTH Workshop Services delivers multi-brand diagnostic solutions that optimize utilization of workshop tools and time while setting new standards for quality, reliability and service.”
