Since 2002, the cross-country skiers have been looked after by national head coach Jochen Behle.

At this year’s Olympic Games in Vancouver (Canada), the team around Axel Teichmann and Evi Sachenbacher-Stehle was able to win a total of five medals. The highlight from a German point of view was Evi Sachenbacher-Stehle and Claudia Nystad winning the gold medal in the women's team sprint.

The German cross-country skiers have finished very successfully in the overall world cup over the last few years. From 2004-2007, René Sommerfeldt, Axel Teichmann and Tobias Angerer (2x) all put their names on the winners' list.
